Pardonnez-moi. May I have a bite of your Canapé?

Only 24 days left till the best reason I've had in a long time to party. Well, at least to celebrate and indulge in all things French. Apparently this lovely international concept celebrating French food and drink has not caught on here in the states (quelle suprise) and is currently only celebrated in New York and Chicago. Quel dommage!

So I'm proposing a grassroots campaign amongst the chosen here in Happy Valley--in fact, anywhere in blog world--and its environs to stock up at Eliane's (because I want them to stay in business through the eternities), make your own or head on up to the overpriced but decadently delicious Melting Pot--just celebrate!

L'Apéritif à la française: June 1, 2006.

Plan a party.

Post your recipes.

Eat, eat and be merry.

Bon appétit!

We should have a blog party so we can put faces to names. Anywhere there's fun and food, I'll be there!

lianne--thank you. Yesterday I was seriously considering just shutting the whole thing down. But I stopped just short. So thanks again for the kind comment.

Anyway, I was in the Belgium Brussels Mission, which no longer exists, but I spent the greater part of it in France--Strasbourg and Reims. It was hard but I did love it there and I really do love the people. I'm glad your daughter is loving it too.

julie--notice how I said eat, eat and be merry? I sort of enjoy the challenge of celebrating "French Cocktail Hour" without any cocktails. I have already instigated a party that day and I think I'm going to have Luke make crêpes. He's getting pretty good. Except for the fact that he will make a big batch of batter, cook enough for himself and sit down and eat them before he will make them for anyone else. Somebody please tell me that is a typical 16-year-old boy thing and that he will grow out of that.

And, speaking of crêpes...did you know that last year at the teacher's long term camp the boys organized and assigned food out to make crêpes at their camp? I thought it was the funniest thing. The leaders had planned menus and brought all the food. But a bunch of 14 and 15-year-old boys had also planned ahead and made assignments among each other to bring whipped cream and berries and such and they made the batter and crêpes up at Moon Lake campground. Seriously. I love it!

Food parties are always in fashion and you should not have to wait for a specific day.

Having been a 16 year old boy, I can say that he will grow out of it as he comes out of orbit (just prior to serving a mission, in the armed forces, or moving off to college. Or it will happen within the first month after said events.)

Yum!!!

I have to say the perfect meal for me is cheese (preferably goat, rolled in little balls then rolled in pepper or curry pwd) shoved down into a baton of fresh bread. Heaven!!!

That is reason enough to go to France, really.

This looks so cool. I would totally come to a party in Happy Valley (if I lived there). Even with all the fun places to eat here in SF, we don't go out as much as we should.

Need to go find a fondue place...

P.S Your post about the all day prom festivities brought back so many memories!!!

Any degree in two weeks. What was I wasting my time for? Anyone lend me a wooden nickle so I can call this place?

Why did you want to do away with blog? Please don't...

Thanks ~j. My reasons are as follows:

One, sometimes it's way too easy to avoid personal responsibilities such as the laundry, the dishes, the bills, and sometimes even my good intentions to go in to work early and earn a little extra cash. I would not have this problem, say, playing Nintendo. But I can quite easily waste too much time on the blog.

Two, sometimes it's a little discouraging to really lay your cards or even your soul out there on the cyberspace table and have people not get it.

Three, sometimes it feels a little too weird to sort of insinuate myself into conversations between a bunch of people I don't know and who don't know me. It's like you know you don't really belong and you kind of wonder if maybe you should just keep lurking in the shadows. It's not like you'd walk by a table of people in restaurant and jump in on their private-but-public conversation. But in blog world it's like you just can't stop yourself from speaking your mind. Isn't that a little weird, really? Or is that the whole point? How do you know?

But the truth is I have "met" some really cool people I never would've connected with otherwise and there are some blogs--such as yours--I couldn't resist going back to again and again anyway. So I'm still here and it's very nice to hear an encouraging word. Thank you.

And I'll always have my good friend pg5jdv06bqjp. I've always wanted a PhD.

I love Eliane's and I love your blog. I want them both to stick around.

STAY!

I'd love a francaise fete (where are my symbols when I need them) or any kind for that matter.

And I'm SO there for an eat eat blog gathering (public place so we don't get kidnapped).
